Product description

A portable CIP skid usually gets ordered after someone is tired of dragging hoses and scrubbing a fermenter through a 4-inch manway. Our units are built for that job: a compact tank package on casters that mixes, heats and circulates cleaning solution through the tank, hose and valve path you already have.

What the skid contains

At minimum, a caustic vessel, a rinse or acid vessel, a centrifugal pump, and a supply and return line with connections sized to your existing fittings. A hot water tank and electric or steam heating are added when the wash solution has to hold 140–176°F through a long loop. Everything wetted is 304 or 316L stainless, with sanitary clamps, butterfly valves and a spray ball matched to the vessel being cleaned.

Sizing the tanks and the pump

People often oversize the tank and undersize the pump. Solution volume gets you through the loop; pump flow is what actually wets the tank wall. A 50-gallon unit typically covers a 1–3 bbl brewhouse or a small pilot plant. A 100-gallon skid handles 5–10 bbl fermenters or several tanks on one circuit. Spray ball coverage usually needs 1.5–3 gpm per foot of tank circumference at 20–30 psi at the ball — check that before locking in the pump curve. Long return runs and plate-and-frame paths need more head, not more chemical.

How a cycle runs

Pre-rinse, caustic wash at temperature, intermediate rinse, acid wash where scale matters, final rinse, then sanitizer if the process calls for it. Temperature, flow, pressure and level can be watched locally on gauges or logged through a PLC with recipe steps and printouts.

Where these units run

Breweries and brewpubs, wineries and distilleries, dairy and beverage lines, sauce and liquid food plants, cosmetics and pharmaceutical process equipment. Requirements differ by product residue — protein soils need warmer caustic, sugar and starch rinse easier, and fats want a surfactant package. Tell us what the soil is and we build the cycle around it.

Questions we get

Can one charge clean several tanks? Yes, if the solution stays above temperature and the soils are compatible. Beyond two or three tanks, a dual-tank skid with a dedicated rinse vessel pays for itself in turnaround time.

Do I need a hot water tank? Only if you want a clean rinse or a pre-heat step. Otherwise the caustic vessel can be heated directly.

We ordered a complete peanut butter processing line, and overall we’ve been very happy with it. The equipment arrived well packed and everything was installed and tested without major issues. The line runs smoothly, and the mixing and processing have been consistent. Our peanut butter comes out with a good texture, and the equipment is not difficult for our operators to use and clean. The support from the supplier was also helpful during setup. So far, it has been a good investment for our production.
