Product description

Built for Batch Processing Under Vacuum

We manufacture jacketed vacuum mixing reactors in 500L, 1000L, and 5000L working volumes, each configured for chemical and cosmetic batch operations that require emulsifying under controlled temperature and pressure. The vessel is a single-piece stainless steel construction, not a bolted assembly, which eliminates leak paths and simplifies cleaning between runs.

The electric heating jacket is directly welded to the outer shell, using thermal oil or steam as the medium depending on your process temperature. For cooling, we can switch the jacket circuit to chilled water or glycol. This dual-function jacket is standard on our reactors because most batch processes need both heating and cooling in the same cycle.

Material Selection and Fabrication

We use 304 or 316L stainless steel for the wetted parts. For cosmetic and pharmaceutical applications, 316L is the common choice because of its better resistance to chlorides and its smoother weld finish. The inner tank wall thickness ranges from 6mm to 12mm, depending on the working pressure and the need for vacuum resistance. All internal welds are ground and polished to a Ra ≤ 0.4 µm, which meets typical GMP requirements.

The top head includes a manhole, sight glass, lighting port, and multiple nozzles for adding ingredients, probes, and vent lines. The bottom is dished to promote complete drainage. We pressure-test every vessel before shipping, and we can provide material certificates and hydrostatic test reports upon request.

Mixing and Emulsifying System

This reactor uses a three-layer agitator: a central anchor or paddle for bulk mixing, a high-shear emulsifier head for fine dispersion, and a scraper that keeps product off the heated wall. The anchor runs at low speed (10–60 rpm) while the emulsifier runs at 1400–2800 rpm, depending on batch viscosity and the required droplet size.

For vacuum operation, we use a mechanical seal with a double-acting design, flushed with a compatible fluid when needed. The entire mixing assembly is top-mounted, so you can remove the agitator without opening the bottom discharge valve. This makes maintenance straightforward.

Where This Reactor Fits

You will see this unit in plants producing lotions, creams, gels, and ointments. It also handles chemical intermediates, adhesives, and polymer dispersions where vacuum deaeration and temperature control are critical. The emulsifier is particularly useful when you need to blend oil and water phases into a stable emulsion without a separate homogenizer.

If your process involves strong acids or solvents, we can upgrade the gasket materials and the mechanical seal design. We have built reactors for batch temperatures up to 200°C and vacuum levels down to -0.095 MPa.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know which wall thickness I need?

It depends on the internal pressure and the jacket pressure. For vacuum service, we typically use 8mm or thicker for 1000L and above to prevent collapse. Tell us your process conditions and we will calculate the required thickness.

Can I use this reactor for solvent-based products?

Yes, but you must specify the solvent and the expected concentration. We will select compatible gasket materials and may recommend a different seal flush system to avoid vapor leakage.

What cleaning options are available?

We can include spray balls for CIP (clean-in-place) and a sloped bottom for complete draining. The polished internal surface makes manual cleaning easier as well.

Do you provide installation support?

We supply detailed drawings and can arrange on-site supervision if needed. Most buyers install the unit themselves with our remote guidance.

Before You Request a Quote

To get the right configuration, please prepare the following details: the exact material you will process, its chemical composition and concentration, batch size and working volume, operating and design temperatures, whether the process runs at atmospheric, positive, or vacuum pressure, the viscosity and solids content, and the mixing effect you expect. Also note any cleaning, sealing, or compliance requirements.

With those parameters, our engineers can recommend the proper steel grade, wall thickness, agitator type, and seal arrangement. Send us your process description and we will get back to you with a technical proposal and a factory-direct price.

Customer Review

We ordered a complete peanut butter processing line, and overall we’ve been very happy with it. The equipment arrived well packed and everything was installed and tested without major issues. The line runs smoothly, and the mixing and processing have been consistent. Our peanut butter comes out with a good texture, and the equipment is not difficult for our operators to use and clean. The support from the supplier was also helpful during setup. So far, it has been a good investment for our production.
