Electric Jacketed Mixing Tanks for Controlled Batch Processing
We build these 100, 200, and 500 L mixing tanks for batch processes that require controlled heating, blending, and high-shear dispersion in one vessel. Typical duties include preparing sauces, creams, emulsions, liquid detergents, pharmaceutical bases, and cosmetic gels. The correct configuration depends on viscosity, solids content, batch turnover, temperature range, and the required degree of homogenization.
Construction and Surface Finish
Product-contact parts are commonly fabricated from 304 or 316L stainless steel. Grade 316L is usually specified when chloride exposure, acidic ingredients, saline formulations, or stricter pharmaceutical cleanliness requirements are involved. We use sanitary welding practices, followed by internal grinding and polishing where the process requires reduced product retention and easier cleaning. Surface finish, weld treatment, bottom geometry, manway design, and drain arrangement should be defined before fabrication rather than added late in the project.
Mechanical seals, gaskets, and valve materials must match the formula, cleaning chemicals, operating temperature, and vacuum or pressure conditions. A seal suitable for water-based products may perform poorly with solvents or abrasive suspensions.
Agitation, Homogenization, and Heating
The agitator and homogenizer are selected from actual rheology data, not tank volume alone. Anchor agitators suit viscous products and can be fitted with wall scrapers; pitched-blade or turbine impellers support general liquid circulation. A bottom or in-line homogenizer may be used when droplet reduction, powder wetting, or emulsion stability is required. Motor power, speed range, gearbox ratio, and variable-frequency control are determined by viscosity, density, shear sensitivity, and production time.
The electric jacketed arrangement supports controlled heat transfer through the vessel wall. Temperature control may include sensors, a controller, and a jacket circulation or heating assembly, depending on the requested design. Heating rate, insulation, cooling capability, and maximum working temperature must be confirmed during quotation.

FAQ
Can the tank handle high-viscosity products? Yes, but the agitator, motor, gearbox, shaft, and seal must be sized from viscosity and batch data.
Which capacity should we choose? Confirm usable working volume, foaming, expansion, headspace, and required batch size. Nominal tank volume is not the same as working volume.
What should accompany a quotation request? Send product viscosity, density, ingredients, solids content, target temperature, heating or cooling cycle, cleaning method, batch time, electrical supply, and any sanitary or documentation requirements. These details allow our engineers to recommend a practical configuration rather than an oversized drive or unsuitable impeller.
