Product description

Industrial Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger for Reactor Cooling and Chemical Liquid Heating

When a reactor runs exothermic reactions, you need a heat exchanger that can pull heat out fast and keep the process stable. Our shell and tube heat exchangers are built for exactly that duty. They handle reactor cooling, chemical liquid heating, and general heat transfer in continuous or batch processes.

We fabricate these units in our own plant, which means we control the quality of every weld and every pass. The shell is typically rolled from carbon steel or stainless steel plate, depending on your process fluid. Tubes can be 304L, 316L, or higher alloys when the chemistry demands it. We use TIG welding for the tube-to-tubesheet joints, then do a hydrostatic test before anything leaves the shop. If you need it, we can also do helium leak testing for vacuum service.

Surface finish matters more than most buyers realize. For clean services, a 2B or 160-grit finish is fine. For polymer or fouling services, we can polish to 240 grit or higher to reduce deposit buildup. On the shell side, we typically leave it as-rolled unless you specify otherwise. Flanges and gasket surfaces are machined to standard facing, and we can match your existing piping class.

These exchangers see duty across chemical processing, pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, and cosmetics. In a typical chemical plant, they cool a reaction mass from 120°C down to 60°C before the next step. In pharma, they often heat purified water or transfer heat between process streams without cross-contamination. The design is compact, easy to clean, and fits into existing skids.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I choose between carbon steel and stainless steel for the shell?
If your cooling water is treated and you don\’t need corrosion resistance on the shell side, carbon steel is cheaper. But if there\’s any chance of process leakage or you wash down the area with chemicals, go with stainless. It\’s easier to keep clean and lasts longer in humid plants.

Q: Can you build this to ASME code?
Yes. We can certify to ASME Section VIII Div. 1 or CE/PED, depending on your project requirements. Just let us know which code you need during the quoting stage.

Q: What about fouling – how do I clean the tubes?
We design with removable channel covers and straight tubes, so you can rod out the tubes mechanically or use chemical cleaning. If fouling is severe, we can specify a floating head design instead of a fixed tubesheet.

Q: What information do you need for a quote?
Tell us the process fluids, flow rates, inlet and outlet temperatures, and allowable pressure drop. If you don\’t have all the numbers, give us the duty (kW) and we\’ll work backward. Also share the composition of the fluids – especially if chlorides or acids are present – so we can pick the right materials.

Practical Buying Guidance

Before you request a quote, sit down with your process engineer and write down the following:

  • What exactly is being heated or cooled? Chemical composition and concentration.
  • Batch volume and working volume.
  • Operating temperature and design temperature.
  • Pressure – atmospheric, pressurized, or vacuum?
  • Viscosity and solids content.
  • Heating or cooling medium available (steam, hot water, chilled water, thermal oil).
  • Target outlet temperature and how fast you need to reach it.
  • Cleaning method – CIP, manual, or pull the bundle?
  • Any gasket or seal material restrictions.

With those details, our engineers can recommend the right tube size, baffle spacing, and nozzle orientation. We don\’t guess – we size the unit properly and confirm it with thermal calculations. Send us your process conditions, and we\’ll respond with a technical proposal and a factory-direct price. No middlemen, no inflated quotes.

Customer Review

We ordered a complete peanut butter processing line, and overall we’ve been very happy with it. The equipment arrived well packed and everything was installed and tested without major issues. The line runs smoothly, and the mixing and processing have been consistent. Our peanut butter comes out with a good texture, and the equipment is not difficult for our operators to use and clean. The support from the supplier was also helpful during setup. So far, it has been a good investment for our production.
