Cosmetic Emulsifying Mixing Reactor
Cosmetic batches can be difficult to process when oils, water, thickeners, and active ingredients need to form a stable, uniform product. This electrically heated mixing reactor is configured around the batch size, formulation behavior, and cleaning requirements. We determine the vessel and agitator arrangement from the process rather than assuming one mixer design will suit every cream, lotion, or gel.
Construction and process configuration
Product-contact surfaces are commonly specified in stainless steel, with the grade selected according to ingredients, cleaning chemicals, and corrosion exposure. Stainless steel 316L may be appropriate for more demanding formulations, while other applications may suit a different grade. Weld locations, internal corners, and surface finish should be reviewed against hygiene and cleanability requirements. Seal materials also need to match product chemistry, operating temperature, and cleaning procedures.
Electric heating can be arranged to suit the vessel design and required heat-up profile. Temperature sensing and control are selected for the process; final performance depends on batch volume, starting temperature, product viscosity, and heat-transfer arrangement. The agitator may use an anchor or other suitable geometry for wall coverage and viscous products. An emulsifying head can be specified when the formulation requires high-shear dispersion. Motor and gearbox sizing depend on viscosity, working volume, speed range, and startup load. High shear is not automatically beneficial: excessive shear can introduce air or affect sensitive ingredients.
Typical applications
Cosmetics manufacturers use this equipment for creams, lotions, gels, and similar emulsified batches. A plant making a thick cream, for example, may need slow bulk circulation combined with localized high-shear emulsification. A thinner lotion may call for a different impeller and speed range. The batch sequence, ingredient addition points, and cleaning method should be discussed before the vessel layout is finalized.

FAQ
Can one agitator handle every cosmetic formula? No. Viscosity, shear sensitivity, and batch size affect the choice; some processes need separate bulk mixing and emulsification.
What information is needed for a quotation? Provide batch and working volumes, product viscosity or a sample, ingredients, target temperatures, heating time, cleaning method, site power, and any hygiene or finish requirements. These details let our engineers recommend a practical configuration and identify tradeoffs before design approval.
