Construction and configuration
We select wetted materials and finishes to suit the formulation, cleaning method, and plant requirements. Stainless steel 304 may suit many general-purpose products; 316L is commonly considered when ingredients, cleaning chemicals, or corrosion requirements call for greater resistance. Final grade should be confirmed against the full chemical and sanitation profile. Welds, internal corners, and product-contact surfaces need to be designed for cleanability. Surface finish, polishing level, seals, and gasket materials are specified with the product and cleaning procedure in mind rather than assumed from the product name.
Drive selection follows batch size and product behavior. Motor power, gearbox ratio, shaft arrangement, and impeller type depend on viscosity, vessel geometry, and the required mixing time. A rotor-stator head can improve dispersion, but it may add heat and shear; sensitive or aeration-prone formulas may need a different speed strategy. If the process requires warming to dissolve or soften ingredients, jacket heating or another suitable method can be evaluated with temperature sensing and control. Heating and cooling requirements should be based on the formula’s process limits.
