Jacketed Mixing for Soap, Shampoo, and Shower Gel
Liquid soap, shampoo, and shower gel can look straightforward to blend, but viscosity changes during batching and surfactants can foam when agitation is too aggressive. We configure this jacketed mixing system around the product’s flow behavior, batch size, heating needs, and cleaning routine. A sweep agitator can move material along the vessel wall, while a high-shear homogenizer or inline pump can be specified when the formula needs faster dispersion or particle-size reduction. These devices serve different purposes; adding high shear without reviewing foam, heat, and air entrainment can make a batch harder to process.
Construction and process options
Product-contact surfaces are commonly specified in 304 or 316L stainless steel. The choice depends on the formula, cleaning chemicals, chloride exposure, and hygiene requirements. We review weld access and drainability during vessel design, then define internal weld finishing and polishing to suit the process. Seal materials and shaft-seal arrangements also depend on product compatibility, temperature, vacuum requirements, and cleaning method.
The double jacket can be designed for a suitable heating or cooling medium, such as hot water, chilled water, or thermal fluid, subject to the required temperature range and heat-transfer duty. Temperature controls, sensors, and insulation are selected around the batch process. Motor and gearbox sizing depend on working volume, viscosity, agitator geometry, and startup conditions. A wall-sweeping anchor may suit a viscous lotion; a different impeller may be more effective for a lower-viscosity liquid. Homogenizer type and position should be established from the required mixing result and batch circulation pattern.
