High Shear Mixing for Liquid Detergent Production
This double-jacket detergent mixer is designed for batches where surfactants, builders, fragrances, and other ingredients must be incorporated into a consistent liquid product. A high-shear homogenizer can help disperse powders and break down agglomerates, while a separate bulk agitator—when included in the configuration—keeps the tank contents moving. The right arrangement depends on the formula, batch size, addition sequence, and target viscosity. High shear is not automatically needed throughout the entire cycle; excessive shear can introduce foam or affect sensitive ingredients.
Construction and Process Configuration
We select product-contact materials to suit the formula, cleaning procedure, and applicable plant requirements. Stainless steel grade, surface finish, weld treatment, and seal materials should be confirmed against chemical compatibility and sanitation needs. Welds in product-contact areas require appropriate finishing to reduce residue traps. Shaft seals also need review for detergent chemistry, temperature, and operating conditions.
The double jacket can be configured for a compatible heating or cooling medium. Jacket design and temperature-control approach depend on the process temperature, heat-transfer needs, and available utilities; they should be specified with the batch recipe rather than assumed from the product name. The drive, reducer, and impeller are selected around working volume, viscosity, and mixing duty. A high-speed rotor-stator head supports intensive dispersion, while a slower anchor or other bulk agitator may be considered for viscous batches or wall sweep.
