High shear alone will not prevent dead zones in a large, thick batch; vessel geometry and the main agitator matter just as much.
Construction and configuration
We select wetted materials against the formulation and cleaning chemicals. 304 stainless steel may suit many general detergent products; 316L is considered when chloride exposure, corrosive ingredients, or a stricter corrosion requirement calls for it. Weld finish, internal polish, drainability, and seal materials should be agreed from the actual cleaning and product requirements. These details affect cleanability and service life, not just appearance.
Heating can be configured around available plant utilities and the product’s temperature limits. The heat-transfer method, heating area, insulation, and temperature-sensor location affect warm-up time and temperature uniformity. A viscous batch can heat unevenly if circulation is inadequate. Motor and gearbox sizing also depend on viscosity, fill level, start-up conditions, and the selected impeller; speed control may be specified where the process needs staged mixing. Seal arrangement and access for maintenance should be reviewed before layout approval.

A manufacturer adding surfactant to a heated base may use slow bulk agitation during charging, then apply high shear for dispersion.
