Ink and paint batches can vary significantly in viscosity, pigment loading, and solvent content. We configure this mixer around the material and process target rather than assuming one agitator will handle every formulation. A high-speed dispersing head can help break down agglomerates and distribute pigments; it does not replace a bead mill when a formulation requires finer particle-size reduction.

Configuration and construction

Vessel size, working volume, batch depth, and required turnover influence the motor, reducer, shaft, and impeller selection. A dispersing blade is commonly used for pigment incorporation, while an additional anchor or other low-speed agitator may be considered for viscous batches or wall sweeping. The final arrangement depends on rheology and whether the process needs one or multiple mixing stages.

For wetted parts, 304 stainless steel may suit some products, while 316L can be specified when chemical compatibility or cleaning requirements call for it. Carbon steel may be considered for non-corrosive service or non-product-contact structures. Welds, surface finish, seals, and shaft-entry details should be defined against the formulation, cleaning method, and applicable plant requirements. Solvent-based production needs a review of ventilation, electrical classification, and grounding; motor protection must match the actual operating area.

Heating is optional, not a default feature. Where viscosity or processing temperature requires it, we can assess a jacket or other suitable heating arrangement and specify temperature measurement and control around the product and utility conditions. Seal materials and elastomers also need to be checked for solvent and cleaning-fluid compatibility.

Typical applications include pigment dispersion in printing ink, paint color adjustment, coating preparation, and blending of related liquid formulations.
